Feeling Playful? by FantasyBri Feeling Playful? by FantasyBri
Just some makeup I did for fun going to a friend's birthday party. In addition to cosmetics I am wearing contacts, ear tips, cat ears, and a choker to accent the look. The shiny orb in the cat ear is a bell that is pierced through it. Nails are my real nails, just painted.

I love cats, but Nekomata are slightly different... while they are cat based, many people tend to forget they are considered 'demons'. Note, that in some cultures demons do not automatically have a negative connotation. Neko's are playful, but they do have claws - and carry much personification of cats. They can also be seductrices at times. I like doing Nekos with the double ears, particularly with the 2nd set pointed, which you don't see a whole lot (probably why I like it).

I do not know that this is an "OC" or character I will keep as I was just having fun... depends on if she scratches at me with a personality or gets future requests I suppose.

*Do not let the catagory fool you - there is no paint!!! All of this was done with various eyeliner & eyeshadow. If you have questions regarding this, ask. Just goes to show what you can do when you think outside the box of traditional makeup application!

I love the makeup/character even if it's not a character. ^_^

lol - thanks, I trimmed a few of them recently just so they don't start breaking. My nails are naturally thick, and they keep growing until they tear off into the quik while i'm crafting or sewing usually. And usually, I don't trim them until one does and I just need to even out the length till it grows back - lol. Only other time is when i need my nails shorter or shaped for cosplay.

And thanks, I love cats and I base my makeup off a combination of real cats (both house and wild) as well as some of the makeup tricks used by people featured in broadway and other productions of cat-themed shows.

my nails are always misbegotten lengths and really short! lol! ^^; I have bad habit of pressing them on things til they bend/break...I don't chew them but I do that sometimes without thinking and whatnot >< and I can't stand them too long so I just never have pretty long nails ^^;

oh yeah I see a mixture of different feline coat features in there and I like how you combined it! The designs/patterns as well as the colors all together! It really accents your features beautifully too! :D hehehehe

Thanks - I think the main mistake people make when doing makeup is that they try to replicate something they like exactly. Since everyone's face is different, the makeup has to be too, so I try to accent my natural features and use references rather than just copying.

In the case of cats, so many do not like to combine stripes and spots - but believe it or not it does come in nature... check out patterns of the lynx if you have not, great example (my native american spirit animal too). For colors, I chose blues and purples and stayed in that tone/theme because the inside of my neko ears is purple fur.

oh yeah, I think you can only ever really try to mimic some and put your own touch on things when trying to emmulate another makeup you might like ^^; I like to get ideas from others' designs and see what I can try to incorporate into my own for costuming ^^;

Oh yeah! Lynx have it and cheetahs have striped tails and spots otherwise ^^

Not sure how I feel about 2 sets of ears...does that mean they hear twice as good??

I don't know... you could ask her, but I hear that cats rarely give people a straight answer ;)

(kudos if you know where that cat quote is from)
